History
The first predecessor event to the Midwest Cigar Summit was held in Havana, IL in October of
2004.  Sixty-five people attended the event at the historic Pub bar on Main Street.  It was a great
success and was the beginning of a growing concept.

Havana boasts a rich cigar-making history and tours of former cigar-making sites proved to be a
popular part of events there.  Local historian and librarian Nancy Iona Glick documented more
than 75 cigar makers in Havana from the 1850s to 1960.

Events in Havana culminated in 2006 with 400 people attending the Havana Cigar Fest & Beach
Bash.  Logistical reasons brought about a move to the Peoria area, and in 2007 the Midwest Cigar
Summit debuted on Sept. 8 at Hickory Grove Park just outside Peoria.

The 2009 event moved both days to Jimmy's Bar, allowing for easier access, as well as widely
enhanced beverage options.

2010 continued the tradition of holding both days of the event at Jimmy's Bar, and was a hugely
successful event, drawing 350 cigar enthusiasts from around the country, and raising $1,000 for
Cigar Rights of America.
It All Started In Havana (Illinois, that is!)
